Summary of service
The facility provides equipment for analysis of cDNA, longmer and Affymetrix arrays. Regulatory courses are held covering experimental parts as well as statistical aspects of gene expression analysis. The facility offers assistance from experimental design to final data analysis. The Mouse cDNA array (20 500 cDNA clones) includes the”Umeå Lucidea controls” that can be used for evaluation and development of statistical methods for array analysis. Funding is received from Umeå University.

Technologies/Methods
The Affymetrix technology
GeneChip probe arrays are manufactured using technology that
combines photolithography and combinatorial chemistry. Up to 1.3
million different oligonucleotide probes are synthesized on each
array. Each probe cell contains hundreds of thousands to millions of copies of a given oligonucleotide.
